Sitting on his throne, just needing a little crown to complete the haughty you are beneath me look on his face.
Buddy was lounging on the couch and since I never post anybody's picture other than Mimi's, I figured it was someone else's turn.
Now leave me alone, peasant!
We went to a matinee the other day, actually just going as far as our couch for an afternoon movie. Captain Philips wasn't really on my must see list, but Keith picked it out and for once he got a good one! Very well acted and really kept my attention even though we all know the outcome from having seen the whole thing play out on the news a few years ago. Excellent movie if you were thinking of watching it.
I picked up The Butler yesterday and watched it last night. It was okay, but just really not all that good in my opinion. Oprah did do a good job with her role, but none of the rest of the cast really got to me, it was almost as if they were playing a caricature rather than a character, and none of the people chosen to play the presidents were very convincing even if their parts were rather small. I did get rather bored with the whole thing, sorry Oprah!

Happy New Year And Sparkly Balls
Well, it's a new year and a fresh new start. Diets will be started and diets will be stopped. Exercise equipment will be bought and exercise equipment will not be used. Resolutions will be made and resolutions will be broken, making us all feel like failures. My New Year's resolutions for the past few years has been don't make any resolutions. That way you won't feel any crappier about your lack of willpower than you already do. Or make resolutions that you can keep, like relax more or pet the kitties more often. Or take naps like the kitties do all day.
Yesterday I had four of them on my bed, one in each corner. The only one that was missing was Pepper, who is so cranky all the time that it's rare to see her share space with any of the others. They all know to steer clear of her most of the time. The only time Pepper is happy is when she is in a pet me mood and I get down on the floor with her and pet pet pet until she decides she has had enough and snarls at me.
My New Year's Eve was quite dull, Keith went off to work for an 8pm train, and I put on my pajamas and watched a movie. I was in bed by about 10:30 so the New Year hit while I was sleeping. Our neighbors a few houses down must have had quite the party, their yard was full of streamers and confetti yesterday morning, but I didn't hear a thing.
I've been renting quite a few movies from the Red Box this past few weeks, the holiday season being absolute crap for TV, and I like my TV in the evenings. I watched some good ones and one stinker, White House Down being the stinker, and The Way Way Back, Two Guns, and surprisingly Jack Reacher being the enjoyable ones. Oh, also The Heat which I really enjoyed, enough to make Keith watch it the next day after he came home early in the morning from work.
Sparkly Balls. Hardly any of the cats play with toys anymore, being all old and lazy I guess, but Mimi still gets in a mood to play and she really likes the soft little balls with glittery sparkly strands that hang off of them. Like these.
She gets into the basket where we keep the cat toys and is very selective about which ball she wants to play with, picking up and discarding balls until she finds the correct one. She then MEOWS because she has caught a prize! I wake up in the morning and can tell if she's had a particularly festive night by how many strands of glitter stuff I find on the kitchen floor and the carpet. These balls shed quite badly, almost as badly as the cats do. Part of the reason I vacuum floors on an almost daily basis.

Mr. and Mrs. Boring Strike Again
And, boy, did we strike out this weekend.
It was incredibly hot (and still is) with the weekend temps being like 109, and of course when the temps go up so does the bad air index where you aren't supposed to breathe when you go outside. So, outside activities, not that we do a whole lot of those anyway, are definitely curtailed.
After a boring Saturday with Keith doing a little yard work and me telling him not to stay out there too long so he didn't get too overheated, he suggested going to see a movie yesterday morning. We still have some free tickets that we've been hanging onto, waiting until something we really wanted to see came along. General movie going is definitely not on our budget, why spend twenty or thirty bucks to go see a movie and buy incredibly overpriced popcorn when you can get one out of the Red Box for $1.00 and pop some popcorn with the new air popper that I got for Keith. $20.00 for the air popper and a few bucks for the popcorn kernels and it's still cheaper than going to the movies even if you only use it once.
Anyway, we thought we'd go see the new Bourne movie, having really liked all three of the others, and off we went to the 11 am show, wanting to get there before it got real busy because there is nothing worse than a crowded movie theatre as far as I'm concerned. I always have to sit on the aisle because I can't sit through an entire movie without having to go to the bathroom, which is one of the reasons I'd just as soon watch them at home where there is a pause button.
So, off we go and give our free tickets to the girl at the ticket counter and she's having problems with the tickets and wanting to know where we got them and the manager comes over and it turns out that we can't use the tickets on a new release movie. Well, okay.
Do we want to pay the regular price and go see the movie anyway?
NO, we don't, so back up the road we go and stop at Save Mart and get some movies from the Red Box and go home and watch some movies. Because it's too hot to do anything else anyway.
What did we see? In The Land of Blood and Honey, very good but very disturbing, and Friends With Benefits, a very cute if somewhat raunchy romantic comedy. Both were good choices and worth a buck apiece.
