Is pretty unimpressive so far. Disappointing and unimpressive. And, yes I watch TV (because we are BORING, remember) and no, we don't have cable or satellite or anything like HBO or Showtime or any of the other channels that actually have good shows on to watch. Because not only are we too cheap to pay for TV, we are also going to be way too poor starting November 1st when Keith joins the incredibly huge number of unemployed people.
Anyway, I was looking forward to the Vegas show because I love Mad Men (no cable, so we have to wait until the DVDs come out each year to watch) and Las Vegas in the 60's sounded like it could be as good as Mad Men. Sadly, it is not. I can't get past Dennis Quaid or however you spell his name and his one facial expression. Sneer and try to look tough. I watched the first episode last week and gave it another try this week and got so bored that I turned it off before it even ended because I just didn't care who killed who.
And then there is the new Elementary show, a takeoff of the wonderful British Sherlock show, and I can't decide if I like this show or not. It's interesting and the character is quirky, but I just don't care a whole lot about who killed who on this show, either.
I refuse to watch Revolution because it's just stupid that everyone would have shiny new crossbows and swords rather than guns that they stole from the gun store after the world ended. And if the world has ended as we know it, why are they still able to get the latest fashions from Ambercrombie and Fitch? And brand new fashionable boots? I tried to watch this show and turned it off after the first ten minutes.
I don't like any of the reality shows other than Shark Tank and I like Shark Tank because it's kind of fun to see some of the products that people invent. They kind of drag things out too long, though, in an attempt to create drama where there is none.
I won't watch Survivors or Bachelors and Bachelorettes or Big Brothers or Dancing with the Stars. Or as Keith calls it, Dancing with the Douchebags. Those kind of shows just annoy me way too much.
So, what do I like to watch this season so far? The new show about British midwives in the late 50s on PBS on Sunday nights is really wonderful, and after that is The Good Wife, which I've liked since the beginning.
Monday nights are the CBS comedies and Tuesday are the Fox comedies, and Thursday night are the NBC comedies, and other than that, there really isn't all that much worth watching. But we watch anyway because WE ARE BORING.
We did watch Homeland on DVD and now we have to wait a whole year before we can see what happens in the current season. If you haven't seen Homeland, do watch because it is an excellent show.

It's Fall?
We had an absolutely beautiful day here yesterday, and today promises more of the same. Until this weekend when it's supposed to get back up into the 90's anyway.
I had the windows open all day and the a/c turned off and the breezes were breezing and it was very pleasant up until the gardeners started up with the lawn mowers and leaf blowers. We can't afford a gardener but every other person in the neighborhood can so our yard always looks a little scruffy while everyone else has a perfectly manicured lawn. Noisily perfectly manicured that is.
I've been looking forward to the new fall season on TV- yes I am BORING! However, the shows that I am interested are on opposite each other while the rest of TV land is filled up with crap like The Biggest Loser which I'm sorry, I can't watch fat people being tortured and abused.
The new show Lone Star looks good, and we really enjoyed Raising Hope but the show that came on after Raising Hope was just painful to watch, so we turned that one off. The new cop show Detroit 187 shows some promise, and I liked the new Defenders that was on last night. Can't wait for the premiere of The Big Bang Theory tonight, but why oh why did they have to put it on opposite The Office? Arghh.
Okay, enough about TV.
But there is not much else to talk about. Because we are BORING.

Just Another Monday
Mondays not being all that different from any other day of the week when you don't have a job, but...
It's typically the day that I try to get the house all clean and sparkly which just might happen today. Maybe. I did start a load of laundry already and it's only 8 am.
Keith spent ALL DAY yesterday (well, the whole afternoon and evening anyway because we did go for a bike ride in the morning and stuff) working on hooking up a new antenna for the TV. We had an antenna for years that just kind of laid on top of the entertainment center and when a channel wouldn't come in we would jiggle the thing around and every so often it would fall off and just kind of hang there by its cord. Well, a few weekends ago he got really mad at it and threw it on the floor and something came loose inside it and it just wasn't quite the same not so great antenna anymore, so...we bought a new bigger and better antenna. That really needed to be attached to the roof outside for optimum TV viewing. A new antenna that sat on the cat's condo for about a week because that's where it got the best reception, much to the consternation of the cats who were wondering why this rather large metal thing with a big long cord was taking naps on their condo. A cord that you were in danger of decapitating yourself with if you were trying to get to the back door to take the trash out.
So, anyway, yesterday was lets get this antenna properly hooked up day, which of course necessitated not one but two separate trips to Home Depot to pick up cables and wall box things and assorted screws and whatever else. And each time Keith goes to Home Depot he is gone for at the very least an hour or two because Home Depot is The World of Wonder when it comes to Keith shopping there, with each nut and bolt having to be inspected and each packet of cable or wall plate having to be price and quality compared.
There is no cable outlet on the wall where our TV is, so holes were cut into the wall and the back of the house, and cables were strung, and outlet plates were screwed in and more trips to Home Depot were made, and then finally by about 9 pm the TV was up and running again. With a real antenna that has a specially made by Keith bracket on the roof.

Weird
After a weekend of hotness, yesterday it was chilly and actually rained. Very strange. Even the local weather guy was surprised. He said that last year on yesterdays date the high temp was 105.
Did anyone else watch Brothers and Sisters on Sunday night for the big finale? It's really not that great of a show but since nothing much else is on at 10pm on Sundays I've been following the show, especially since it comes on right after Desperate Housewives. The big wreck at the end where everyone in the family gets in a big horrible multi car wreck and everyone is all bloody and Rob Lowe dies from a big head injury or whatever got me wondering about why nobody had AIR BAGS in their cars. No deflated airbags to be seen anywhere.
Speaking of watching TV (yes our lives are boring and we watch TV), I'm sitting on the couch last night and glance over to the corner where Lucy and Buddy are sleeping in the cat tower and this is the view I see. Lucy loves to let it all hang out.
