A New Kitty Cat!

This one doesn't need to be fed or cleaned up after, though. We have enough of that type of cat already, thank you very much.

Saturday afternoon I was kind of bored and getting tired of being in the house, Keith was supposed to be studying his rule book in preparation for more testing this coming year, but his eyes were closed and I heard some snoring so I don't think much studying was getting done. When he woke up I said that I was going to go downtown and browse a few antique stores and he decided he'd go, too.

We used to do a lot of antique shopping but when he was laid off antiques were definitely not something we needed to be buying, and our house is kind of full of junk anyway, so we hadn't been downtown to shop in a very long time. I wasn't really looking for anything in particular and didn't see anything that really caught my eye. I was getting kind of disappointed in the offerings, many of the booths in the antique mall seemed to be full of junk that really was just junk, stuff that should have gone to to Goodwill or just been thrown in the trash, but...one man's trash is another man's treasure and all that.

We were about to head on out of the store and Keith was lagging behind in a booth, our styles of any kind of shopping being different. I give everything a quick glance and he likes to inspect everything closely, much like when we are in the grocery store and he has to read the backs of every bottle and can and I'm getting more frustrated by the minute. Just BUY IT ALREADY and let's get out of here. And let's not even mention shopping at Home Depot, he usually takes at least an hour in there to buy a lightbulb. Anyway, this time it was a good thing that he was still in that booth because I saw a kitty cat way up high on a shelf and it said MEOW you must buy me!

And I did. A ceramic kitty with a ball of yarn planter.

For some reason this kitty reminds me of Lucy, even though it doesn't really look like Lucy. I think it's the sort of sad yearning expression on its face, like it really wants to be petted or maybe throw the ball of yarn for it.

Junk store score!

Your kitty cat planter is adorable, glad you found something at the antique mall you liked. I have noticed at some of my local antique malls, that the quality of stuff is not the same as it used to be. Lots of new stuff mixed in with the old....and more booths seem to be vacant too. Have a happy New Year!
