EATing Lunch

Whenever Keith is home on a weekday it really throws me off my sort of schedule, kind of like when you have an unexpected guest drop by and you feel like you have to entertain them. Yesterday he was home because he had his strength test for BNSF at 9:30, thought about trying to go into work after he got back from that, but then said never mind. He was kind of down because at his pre-employment physical on Monday he was told that his hearing is greatly diminished and is below standards on hearing low frequencies which means he probably won't get hired for the job since he seems to be deaf as a post. Which I have suspected for quite a few years now, what with me having to repeat myself numerous times and the TV volume being up so loud that I cringe.

So, instead of going in to work after the rather rigorous and exhausting strength test, he played with his new cell phone trying to set up his voice mail and got very frustrated with that, then we went to the post office and got some lunch. There is a funky old coffee shop restaurant next to the Motel 6 up by the freeway offramp called Milt's that looks like it has been there forever and has the very tall sign that just says EAT above it, so we went there to EAT. Keith had breakfast and I had the teriyaki chicken lunch special which tasted pretty good and should have been served on a blue plate by a gum snapping waitress named Flo or Shirley. It came with the traditional mashed potatoes and a separate little dish of lima beans for the vegetable.

Then after lunch we went over to the bookstore to look at baby books since we are invited to our neighbors for Williams first birthday in a few weeks and rather than just another toy I was thinking of those board books that babies can chew on. So, we found a couple of Spot board books and also the little stuffed Spot toy to go along with the books.

Now we are just waiting to see if Keith gets rejected for the job since he can't hear. We should know by the end of the week, and it's going to be a long week waiting.
