New Shoes (and Pants)

Something about this time of year when you are shopping for gifts makes you want to buy something for yourself, at least it does for me. If you were actively searching out a new shirt or pair of pants and really needed a new shirt or pair of pants you wouldn't see anything you liked (or could afford as the case may be). Like last summer when we went into Kohl's to get a pair of jeans for Keith and to see if we could find a pair of capris for me. Well, we weren't about to spend $50.00 on a pair of jeans or capris, not that I could find any capris that I liked even if I wanted to spend $50.00 on them. So, he got some jeans at Target for $12.00 which he ended up not liking because they were relaxed fit and made him feel like an old man in baggy jeans and they did sort of look like mom jeans. I went to Goodwill and found 2 pairs of capris for $3.75 each.

But when you are shopping for other people, everything in the store just screams out your name.

Anyway, my only good pair of long pants got ripped up in the falling off the bike thing, so I kind of wanted to find a halfway decent looking pair of pants to wear since it is getting a little cold outside and my cheap capris look silly in winter when it's cold outside, and I was shopping for other people anyway, and of course see lots of things that I liked. For me.

I found a pair of pants on the clearance rack at Target. Score. I also found an orange hoodie sweatshirt for Keith to wear at work, he wants bright orange for safety reasons, so that trains bearing down the tracks can see him and stuff like that. I found one for $10.00 at Target. Another score.

I also got a couple of long sleeved t-shirts that are a little more feminine looking than what I usually wear around the house. I am kind of tired of looking a little dykey as Keith puts it, borrowing his plaid flannel shirts and all.

I put my new pants on top of my dresser to take the tags off later and put them away, and within just a few minutes, here's Mimi sleeping on my pants.

Then, last night I am putting on my tennis shoes so we could run up to the store and pick up a few things and see mud and a leaf stuck to the bottom of my shoe and as I'm thinking about scraping off the mud realize that the bottom of my shoe has completely split in half. So, I look at the other shoe and see that it is splitting in half, too, and realize that I've had these shoes for about 3 years now and maybe I should just throw them away instead of trying to get the leaf and mud off the bottom.

So I get my crocs out to wear to the store, those being my only other pair of shoes and look at the bottom of those and see that there is absolutely no tread left on the bottoms, it's completely worn off and no wonder they are slippery if the pavement is wet, and I've had these for 4 years so I guess it's time to toss them in the trash, too.

And now I have no shoes, so we went over to Payless to see what they had and I'm not about to pay $35.00 for a cheap pair of Payless boots and I'll just wait and go to Walmart in the morning, wearing my worn out crocs in the meantime.

I found imitation fur lined boot things for $12.00 and a pair of Danskin tennis shoes for $12.00 so I think I scored on those, too.

I do that too. Supposed to be shopping for other people but keep finding stuff for me.
