Cats and Computers and Foaming and Stuff

I am trying to 'work' on the computer this morning and Buddy would much rather that I pet him. Now.

Hey, lady, hello...hello...cute cat here just needs some petting. Hellooooo...

The other night Buddy came in from the garage foaming at the mouth, acking and spitting gobs of foam all over the rug. This is the second time he has done this and we don't think he has rabies, but I am a little perplexed as to what the heck was going on there. We think that he tried to bite a little frog. We have lots of big huge bullfrogs that hop around our yard in the evenings and the big frogs have apparently given birth to little frogs that also hop around the yard. The garage door doesn't quite seal in the bottom corner and there is room enough for a little frog to hop on in there, so that's what we are thinking is going on. Hopefully he will learn that little frogs don't taste very good and make him foam at the mouth. But, then again, it's Buddy, and he's not the sharpest crayon in the box, so...

Then the next night Mimi comes in the living room after a visit to the cat box and starts scooting her butt across the floor. Now, I've seen dogs doing that because they have worms or whatever but I've never seen a cat doing it. So, Keith lifts up her tail to see what's going on and we were both horrified. Warning, not for weak stomachs here.

There was something long and red coming out of her bottom and at first we both thought that it was blood or intestines or something equally disgusting but it turned out to be a piece, a very long piece, a piece that was now all knotted up and poopy smelling, of red ribbon. Red ribbon that I had cut into foot long pieces and had in a basket in the workroom. That I should have known better than to leave laying in a basket since Mimi is the little lets get into any baskets that are laying around cat.

We were quite relieved that it was ribbon and not intestines, but also very glad that it came out and didn't get her innards all messed up to where she'd need surgery.

No, I will never leave ribbon laying around where Mimi can get into it again.

Shudder...

You've got six cats and this is your first scooting episode? Wow, are you ever lucky! Almost all of mine have done it at least once...I call it "crayoning on the floor", not that it's even remotely amusing, especially when I have visitors. Cats have the best timing!

Not sure what the foaming is all about, but the ribbon thing is kinda scary.
