Product Placement Fail

Or was it a stroke of genius?

I'm walking through Vons this morning doing the dreaded grocery shopping for lunch stuff for the week and as I'm heading down the cereal aisle what do I see but one of those pop up displays full of HUGE bottles of vodka. Right in front of the Fruit Loops.

I did not one but a couple of double takes.

So, was this just some lazy vodka salesman who didn't feel like walking all the way to the liquor aisle to set up the display or was it clever merchandising? Think about it, you've got the harried mom or dad with a litter of kids all screaming for their favorite sugary cereal and mom or dad has just about had enough when what appears in front of them but a big giant bottle of vodka! Vodka! Let the kids eat themselves into a sugary oblivion and who cares if they each have to have their own box of cereal, we've got VODKA!

I like it. Clever. They should stock aspirin in that aisle too.

Cracks me up. I forgot that you can buy liquor at the grocery store in CA. Yep, one lazy vodka man. I can't believe the store manager didn't notice though, wow!

OMG when I worked at No Frills here one year they put "back to school" sale signs on their liquor. I was like WTF, who needs it, the teachers or the kids?
