Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

Or, in this case, rooster.

The night before last, our new neighbor across the street was out asking other neighbors if they knew anyone who had chickens. Because she found a rooster in her garage. How the rooster got into her garage and where it came from nobody seems to know. She let him out yesterday morning hoping he would find his way home, but he decided he really likes our street and the yards full of bugs and the nice man (Keith) who brought him some bird seed and cat food. All day yesterday he wandered the yards across the street. Our neighbor directly across the street had his garage door up and the rooster was trying to go inside his garage, so the woman who originally found the rooster lured him back into her garage for the night, worried that the stray feral cats might tear him up.

She let him back out this morning and he happily crowed and ate bugs and bird seed again. You can hear him crow in the video down below.

She has a niece who belongs to Future Farmers of America and is going to call her to see if her school wants to come and try and get the rooster, if not I guess we have a new street pet. Or lunch.
