Honey Boo Boo?

Now, even though we don't have cable or satellite or any other means of watching anything other than the regular run of the mill TV channels, of course we are aware of the phenomenon that is Honey Boo Boo and the media circus surrounding this chubby rather annoying little girl. How could anyone in America (and probably a lot of the rest of the world) NOT be aware of the family that cooks sketti with butter and ketchup when there is no fresh roadkill available? If you aren't aware of Honey Boo Boo, first, where have you been for the last six months, and second, google her. And then watch some of the videos. I guarantee you'll waste at least a couple of hours searching for even more.

And what exactly is the fascination with this little pageant queen and her family? I think it's just a part of human nature to want to see freaks of nature. Instead of having to go to the carnival or circus and pay 10c to get into the sideshow to see the siamese twins or the bearded lady or the boy with the flipper hands, we now have TLC to bring it right into the comfort of your living room.

And I don't fault anyone for watching it. If I had TLC on my TV, I'd also be on my couch with some popcorn, unable to tear my eyes away from the screen.

Yeah, I'd be watching toddlers with sugar highs, and little people living their lives, and people who can't stop procreating and have weird religions, you bet I would! Why? Because I think we all like to see how others live. It's just a TV version of spying on the neighbors. Plus, in Honey Boo Boo's family's case, it's nice to see someone fatter than us! Because then we can feel all self righteous and congratulate ourselves on not being as fat as Honey Boo Boo's mom.

However, I was embarrassed when I was watching the video of the family going to play the sport of bingo and realized that June (Honeys' mom) was wearing the exact same shirt as me! That she got at Walmart just like I did. That I'm actually wearing again today.

Now, if you have seen any of the shows, you know that just about everyone in the family has a nickname, starting with the dad who they call Sugar Bear. I found a Honey Boo Boo name generator that you can put your name in and it will give you your own Honey Boo Boo Redneck Nickname!

My new name is Enchantment Michaela and Keith's is Kiwi Muffin. I don't like mine all that much, but I do think I might start calling Keith by his redneck nickname, it's kind of cute!

I have no idea who Honey Boo Boo is, but you have me laughing over here, again, as usual. :D
