Maybe

Just maybe things will go back to normal here soon. Keith got tired of waiting for Savage to call him back so he called them yesterday morning and Bob told him he would call back at 10am. Which he actually did and they went through the standard phone interview, just like the first time he got hired on there, and again told Keith that they did want him to come back to work. Then we waited around all day to hear about the formal in person interview, but nothing yesterday, and finally this morning he got the phone call and will go in tomorrow morning for the interview.

It's been a stressful worrisome few weeks, with wondering if they really want him back or if he'll have to go find some low paying job since that's about all there is out there right now. We haven't heard a thing from the cement plant, but that's understandable since it's a union job and they really want a journeyman mechanic, not some guy who just has a little experience. As Keith says, he made the biggest mistake of his life leaving Savage in the first place. A railroad job has been a dream of his for a long time, but after getting there and seeing how much pressure and stress there is with that type of job, and how much brutally hard physical labor it is, and then the whole staying in motels and having to share a room with some stranger all week and really your life belongs to the railroad except for a few hours a week when you can go home, provided you are working close enough to home to even be able to get there. So, dream shattered and no hope of ever getting hired in another type of job with the railroad. And the bad timing of starting training at the exact same time that his mom was sick and in the hospital didn't help at all.

Anyway...hopefully the interview will be just a formality and they'll give him a start date tomorrow. He still has to do the whole drug testing and physical and all that, too, but since he doesn't do drugs and passed the physical the first time around, that shouldn't be a problem.

I'm so sorry things turned out that way for him... and hope all goes well with being re-hired. I feel for him, because that is sort of how I feel about my decision to leave the insurance job and head South - that didn't work out and look where I am now. But you never know until you try and if he didn't try it he would have regret by not trying it. Hard to get past all of that I know!
