I don't know exactly what I've been doing all week but I do know that I've been keeping busy and haven't had time to get bored. Just cleaning up after the cats, vacuuming up their dander and wiping up vomit and scooping poo keeps me plenty busy. We've been letting them all go out back each morning for a few hours while Genie cowers in her basket, and then when it's time to come in I rattle the treat bag and they come running. Good thing they are not smart enough to have figured out yet that when the treat bag rattles the door gets shut behind them. Then after they eat all their treats I try to brush some of the dirt off of the ones that will let me brush them (Harri seems to love getting brushed) and then it's time to vacuum the living room and get up all the dirt they brought in with them.
I am hoping that some of them will lose a little weight now that they are running around outside each day. Way more exercise than they've gotten in years.
It is really really really nice to have a husband who actually looks forward to going to work now. It's only day three of training and I'm sure the novelty will wear off after a while, but to have someone so enthusiastic about their new job and so much happier about life in general is a good good thing. No more coming home in a bad mood after the shop foreman has spent all day looking for things to find fault with and no more coming home totally exhausted and filthy from working in an oil field somewhere.
Keith is really enjoying the training so far and really likes the guys that are doing the training and keeps having to pinch himself to make sure he's not just dreaming. So many years of trying and trying for this job and so many years of rejection. He and his 8 other classmates were told that there were 1500, yes ONE THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED applicants for the job and out of those 1500, they were the lucky ones.
So, things are good and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that nothing will come along to derail this, nobody is allowed to die, have a health crisis, a financial crisis, or any other ANYTHING that will screw things up.
